Inge Preservations

Shipping and Handling

99% of all items treated at Inge Preservations are shipped, and it need not cause the owner of these pieces any loss of sleep.    Sending one or more items to Inge Preservations is safe and simple if done properly.

PREPARING THE PACKAGE:     A flat object should be protected with cardboard (2 sheets on each side), or masonite for larger items, cut about 1" larger on each side than the object.  The cardboard or masonite should then be taped securely on all four sides.  The package should be marked on both sides with "FRAGILE".

Objects such as newspaper clippings can simply be placed in a box or padded envelope, protected with cardboard.

 PREFERRED SHIPPING METHODS:
USPS:  For shipping, we prefer the US postal service (USPS) Registered or Priority Mail.  For items to be insured for more than $5000.00, you should send Registered Mail.  It's a bit more trouble to prepare a package for Registered, but it is the absolute safest method of shipping.  Our post office holds all packages until we pick them up, so there is no risk of a package being left unattended
PRIVATE CARRIER:  FedEx can be used if that is the owner's preference, but please be aware that private carriers such as FedEx, while usually reliable,  do not provide insurance.   If you choose FedEx or other private carrier (we do not recommend UPS at this time), you MUST notify us in advance of shipping so that we are here to receive it, and you should request a signature so that a package is never left outside (a common practice among shippers these days).  When returning completed items, we will insure for the cost of treatment, and will only insure for the value of the piece at the owner's request.
