Shipping & Handling

Sending one or more items to Inge Preservations for treatment is safe and simple if done properly.

A flat object should be protected with cardboard (2 sheets each side), or masonite for larger items, cut about 1" larger on each side than the object.  The cardboard or masonite should then be taped securely on all four sides. We suggest that you mark the package with "FRAGILE" on both sides.

Objects such as newspaper clippings can simply be placed in a box or padded envelope, protected with cardboard.

For shipping, US Postal Service(USPS) Registered Mail, or Priority Mail, is the method we prefer. Our post office safely holds all packages until we pick them up, so there is absolutely no risk of a package being left unattended. Insuring valuable items is highly recommended. Insurance up to $25,000.00 can be purchased with Registered Mail, and up to $5,000.00 through Priority Mail. FedEx can be used if that is the owner's preference (we do not recommend UPS at this time), but please know that private carriers, such as FedEx and others, do not insure artwork. If you do choose to ship by FedEx or other private carrier, you MUST notify us in advance of shipping so that we are here to receive it. You should also request a signature, so that a package is never left outside. When returning completed items, we will insure for the cost of the treatment, and will only insure for the value of the piece at the owner's request.

While there is always a risk of loss or damage in shipment, in all the years Bob has been in business, he has only once experienced this.  The greatest risk is usually the client not taking proper care in preparing the package, which is easily remedied if instructions are followed.
